That little shop & gas station with the green trim in the pic is my local third-string Bodega. I go in there maybe once or twice a week. It's right on the edge of the most impoverished part of my city and is always pretty packed with locals.
I go in tonight to grab a coffee to go sit & write while my laundry's flipping, and it's completely empty. Not one person. I've literally never seen this place with not one person in it before. So I say to the guy “Damn, it's freakin' dead in here tonight.” He says “Yeah, it's been like this the past few days.” I must've looked like I was wondering why, so he says “Nobody has any money.” Then I definitely looked at him, like “seriously?", and he nodded.
That caught me off guard and pretty hard.
I don't say this mockingly, but if you know this kind of neighborhood, the last thing that's going to get cut out before food is cigarettes/beer/lottery. That's not a lifestyle commentary. It's real. And from the look of it, and from what this man told me, that's what this community is looking at tonight.
That's Joe Biden's America. Maybe not from the very bottom of it, but pretty close to it, and looking up.
That's a real bad “tell" about what may be coming, for anyone.
This will be the real revolution. Not soccer moms and hunting dads. It will be us poor folk who want to have our simple pleasures and be left alone. A cold beer, fresh cigs, and a chance at riches. And we plan to keep them. No beer or lottery tickets may piss us off. Nicotine withdrawal will send us right over the edge. When you see the poor folks come out fighting, step back. Shit just got real. No joke folks.
Why would he be seeing this, sitting in his mansion and suffering from dementia, being told what to say by teleprompters and circus handlers? He's about as far removed from regular Americans as any ROTUS has ever been before in history. FJB
