Team DeSantis dropped a campaign ad yesterday flat out asking why Donald Trump didn't fire Anthony Fauci while he was president when it became clear that Fauci's ‘advice’ was unsound, with all the appropriate graphics, clips, slightly contextually altered Trump quotes, bells and whistles.
A. That's a fair question and potential campaign "cudgel" against Team Trump for DeSantis.
B. Hindsight is 20/20, and there was no instruction manual for navigating through this. Also, and not unimportant, the optics of firing Fauci would've been a political nightmare.
