I’m not sure that’s accurate. I thought colleges had seen more females than males in fields like engineering for some time now. Doesn’t make your comment in-humourous, I’m just curious. The incredible invisible-ing of men project.

If that's the case, then it's probably because the schools are admitting more women into the engineering schools, but not necessarily because they are more qualified. It's STEM's own version of affirmative action.

Absolutely agree! I think it’s more of the affirmative action gone wrong that’s just been going on for so long. It might have begun altruistically, but certainly has not ended up beneficial for annyone, and maybe most especially to the ones it was supposed to help.

The engineering school my son went to (WPI) has gone from a ratio of 70/30 in 2012 to 60/40 now. Schools are trying to force girls into fields that they aren't interested in. My son was into math/physics, my daughter biology/anatomy. They're both in STEM fields, but there's not enough money in the world to convince my daughter to do engineering.

Mitch Daniels, the former president of Purdue University made a statement last year about needing to recruit more young men for college. I think what he was referring to was the decrease in enrollment of males overall. The crunchy feminists lost their minds over his statement. Purdue is big on STEM majors and male students outnumber female students. I had the best laugh when my son said one of his fraternity brothers posted on social media “Where are the women?”.😄

Back in the 80s a friend of mine got a degree in mathematics from university of Pittsburgh. She said by time she was a senior it was her and a bunch of Asian males in class. 😂

She did very well for herself. She’s the kind of American you can root for because she comes from humble beginnings and worked her ass off.
