Goofing around yesterday about England scheduling the Coronation of King Charles against the Kentucky Derby, which I still think was a mistake for the American market, but nobody listens to me anyway, which you shouldn't.
The thing about it though, is that this is actually a pretty significant historical event. It's been 75 years since the last British Coronation, and this is the first time one will ever be broadcast live internationally. The Royals do know how to throw a party, and the American media is eating it up and trying to make it a spectacle on par with Charles and Diana's wedding or Queen Elizabeth's recent Jubilee and funeral coverage.
The only problem is...Charles. 😏
I speak only for myself when I say this, and you may certainly disagree or agree as you like, but Charles is the most unlikable British Monarch since about 1773. 😆
As long as I can remember, with me being 15 when "The Royal Wedding" took place in 1981 as a reference point, I've always thought he was a creepy, smooshy, pampered little weenie, and I still think that now, only add in that he looks like he's on the verge of being 'Joe Biden Old' on top of all that.
Granted, he is not the creepiest example of centuries of (mostly🤔) carefully navigated inbreeding from the Windsor stock line. That'd be Andrew, going away. 😉
But it's enough to put me off of embracing the spectacle and pageantry of this weekend's Coronation festivities, and going with the Kentucky Derby instead.
What's your take, Fam?
Watching or not watching? Caring or not caring? Also, is Charles as creepy & smooshy as I think he is? 😏
And do you get the feeling that the real, historic British Monarchy may have ended with the death of Queen Elizabeth, and is now going into a slow fade with Charles, Going into William next, as a lot of the public seems to think?
Go! 😃
Bye the bye...
I'm still going with Tapit Trice in the Derby. I don't like him at all for the Triple Crown because I think he'll get smooshed in The Preakness, for reasons. But I'm saying Tapit Trice over Forte in a close one in Kentucky. More tomorrow.
Also, I don't know shit, so don't go betting the rent money on anything I say. 😆
I always thought the Queen would skip him and hand things over to William and Kate. They are much more loved by the people. Charles is definitely creepy and smoosh. And the guy picked Camilla over Diana. Seriously?
