I’m in Vero Beach (east coast) and currently under off and on tornado warnings. Frankly, tornadoes scare me more than hurricanes. I lived in TN along “tornado alley” for 11 years and saw first hand the destruction that they cause. I am very concerned about my friends in the Tampa area and my sister in central Florida who will be getting the brunt of this storm.
My niece is a police officer in Ocala. They are ‘all hands on deck’, on duty around the clock to do whatever is needed. Prayers for all first responders/helpers.
So far so good here in Central FL (Apopka). Came to FL in late August for family medical stuff and got “stuck” here. Missing my deck and trees and perfect weather back in NE! Hoping all PCS Florida Peeps ride this out safely and can tell Ian to faaack off!
Have no one in the path but cannot imagine what you are going through. Prayers are with you. Up north here next to Canada we get big blizzards but they come silently and slowly so we can prepare but they are generally not lethal. Keep us up to date and we hope that DeSantis does right by you.
I have many friends in the Tampa Bay Area. They’ve battened down the hatches, networked with friends, neighbors and churches for plans A,B and C. It inspires confidence in the people of our country to see how they sprang into action to care for their communities.
Sanibel here. Stayed but shouldn’t have. Storm was horrid but tidal storm surge was worse. House intact but outside looks like Fallujah . It’s surreal to look out an see a Huey flying over your backyard... left today with fire rescue on an ATV, then a truck, then a boat. Kudos to those guys! National Guard, LE from across the State and the USCG!

We are in south central Fl just outside the cone. That could always change but so far so good.

I am very confident in Governor DeSantis and his ability to handle this storm like a champ.

Prayers for everyone in the path.
Crazy winds and heavy rain in Naples. We can hear the building vibrate occasionally. In a condo on the 2nd floor, 4 miles from Gulf of Mexico.
I have seen some friends post about damaged roofs or trees down. Our power keeps flickering.
Stay safe!
Wish Gov DeSantis could just ship Ian off to Martha’s Vineyard….. 😏
