I Felt A Great Disturbance In The Farce!

More subtle signs of a turning tide...

This is San Francisco mayor London Breed.

Best I can tell, she's been a hardcore DemSoc all along, and has said and done all the standard, regulation lefthole dumb shit that goes along with all that, including defunding the San Francisco police and sheriff’s departments by $120M last year.

This week, in a bold, impassioned speech, she did a complete turnaround on this and has sent an emergency request to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for funding for a crackdown on the crime that’s been plaguing that city since then.

It’s easy to roll your eyes and say, “Yeah, sure. Now that you’ve already jacked everything up…”

That’s a perfectly natural reaction to something like this from someone going in the complete opposite direction in the past.

But I watched the video, and it looked to me like there’s something real at play here. It looked to me like something “happened”. Call it realization of reality, or an epiphany, or what have you. Maybe call it “finding the line” that changes things for you, like we’ve talked about from other perspectives recently. There just seemed to be a sincerity and determination about how she presented herself … which you rarely find in a politician … and almost never in a democrat. Again, like she saw something that changed things for her.

This was also, objectively speaking, a pretty brave action to take for this woman. She’s absolutely going to be cannibalized by the left for this stance. They’ll vilify and cancel her. They’ll withdraw their support, and try and erase her from office, and even threaten her for it…because that’s what the unhinged left does when you stray from their path.

“Do what we say, or we’ll hurt you.”

And she clearly expressed that she does not care about that, because it’s the right thing to do. That was impressive, as well.

I'm not saying invest anything into this woman. I don't know anything about her. This is a one-shot "Okay, let's see what you do with this" thing for me.

But I've said it before, that we ultimately will have to reach out to people on the other side in the aftermath of wherever our current trajectory is taking us as a nation. And so will they. And maybe this is a breakthrough in understanding for her in that respect, and maybe it makes her into one of those people who we seek out later.

And maybe it's another little shift, or tell, in the grand scheme of where we're heading on some of these issues as a society, back to normalcy, and away from the insanity that’s been swirling around us over the past few years…like we recently saw in the voting booths of Virginia and New Jersey, and in a courtroom in Kenosha.

“Trust" is not on the table here. That’d be reckless and stupid. We're all still a long way off from that sort of thing, with this sort of person. Be wary and be cautious about it, certainly.

But listening is never, EEEEver, a bad thing.
