A verdict has been reached in Minnesota in the trial of former Brooklyn Center MN police officer Kim Potter.
Potter has been accused of accidently shooting a criminal in the process of arresting him, when she mistakenly withdrew her service weapon instead of her taser.
Potter is white, so racist MN Attorney General Keith Ellison completely overcharged her, which could lead to complete acquittal as is often the case when racist AG’s or state prosecutors overcharge people to appease the unruly mobs outside protesting who don’t know shit about anything regarding the American legal system, and think justice means the white person goes to prison.
The extended deliberations are a good indicator that she won’t be convicted on all charges as well, but really…who can say.
My opinion?
No chance of conviction on the First Degree Manslaughter charge. Equal possibility of conviction or acquittal on the Second Degree Manslaughter charge.
Potter was unbelievably negligent in mistaking her gun for her taser, and regardless of his criminal record, Daunte Wright should not have been killed that day. Neither of the charges require the prosecutor to prove intent. There’s no way she should be found guilty of the First Degree charge, but I can’t complain if they do find her guilty of the lesser charge.
The real issue will be later in the sentencing phase, where the “jury of her peers” is removed from the equation, and real politics will come into play. Prosecutors have said they are going balls deep on the sentence they’re asking for, and Potter could spend up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the greater charge, and 9 1/2 on the lesser charge.
Watching.
Yeah, she screwed the moose big time. That's the kind of mistake that can't be wished away. If she'd wounded him, then firing and a civil suit may have been it. But this was bad.
I'm reading this after hearing the verdict. I'm upset about it and it's going take me awhile to get my thots together. Suffice it to say I'm pissed!!!
