Metabook Shennanigans!

Tough day in Menlo Park...and some vindication for me. 😏

Earlier today, I had one of the greatest personal moments in the more than four year existence of PCS Nation. Through a very fortunate series of events, we were able to clearly prove to a good chunk of our PCS Nation Facebook Family, that Facebook does, in fact, "shadow ban" pages that do not share their ideology.

We published a post that I knew was getting shadow banned because it carried a link to the Substack page in it. So I followed that up a few minutes later with another post, with no link to Substack in the body, that pointed out that the vast majority of you folks were not being allowed to see the previous post, but you would see it if you were on Substack, because we don't play that bullshit game here.

Well...y'all sure saw that second post. 😆

And evidently a lot of you did some "investigating" for youselves, and found out that what I'd said was accurate, and that you were absolutely being prevented from seeing a Facebook post that you'd freely accepted, and expected to be in your newsfeed...by Facebook.

As of this posting, nearly 100 members of our Facebook Family got a solid, first-hand look at what they do to you there when you're "not looking", and have now come over here to Substack for their PCS Nation content, increasing our growing base by over 20% in just one afternoon because of it.

Let me get this off my chest real quick...

I'VE BEEN TELLING YOU THIS SHIT FOR FOUR YEARS NOW!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU LISTEN!?! 😖

Okay, I'm good now.

I'm savoring every bit of this relatively insignificant event, and feeling a little vindicated that people were able to tangibly see for themselves what me and other content publishers deal with on a daily basis...and what you as users are subjected to as a result of it.

Facebook absolutely shadow bans pages based upon their content, and measured against their own world view, and decides and restricts what you see there.

Shadow banning is real. It's not even a discussion anymore, and I'm delighted that a bunch of you got to see that for yourselves today.

It's distasteful, and it's disrespectful to you as a Facebook users, and it's incredibly offensive to me that they treat you that way.

I actually even have another scummy Facebook thing that happened today that I wanted to include in this piece, but I was having so much fun doing this "victory lap" that I couldn't stop myself and it got a little long. 😏

So we'll get to that one tomorrow.

The additional "numbers" here are certainly satisfying, and very welcome as we continue building this beast.

But seeing you seeing what really goes on over there on “big tech leftist social media”, was the real win for us all today. 🙂
