After kicking things around on the Send G Somewhere Saturday preliminary planning post yesterday, it looks like this week's choice is Chappaqua NY...Home of the OG Twatgoblin!
There wasn't a clear cut #2, but the Yonkers trip came in a pretty strong 2nd last week, so I'm putting Chappaqua v. Yonkers up for vote tonight.
Chappaqua...
First of all, forget about me going looking for Hillary Clinton. She's probably not there anyway, and nothing good can come of me going anywhere near the Clinton Compound. If I happen to run across her, I'll absolutely go full "I'm With Her" to try & get a pic with her.
What I CAN do is a "Places Hillary Did Photo-Ops In Town But Never Really Goes To" tour. I lived there for two years so I know all the places you'd see her in photos when they do those "hometown girl" pieces on her.
Neighboring town is Pleasantville, which is pretty small but has a few cool spots. More of on 'on the way home' stop.
Yonkers...
Getty Square, which is the business/shopping district and most of the city offices. Very nice waterfront restoration maybe 25 years ago, with a cool downtown Hudson River waterfront, the Palisades in NJ right across the river and the George Washington Bridge just to the south. Then a block inland you get crackheads & hookers, like most waterfront restoration projects.
Then if I make it through them and up a pretty big hill called Maple St., the neighborhood I lived in from age 1-4, in a building owned by grandmother's family, with a little bodega on the first floor that used to be a grocery store/butcher shop owned by my grandfather's family going back to the 1920's. IF I make it through crackhead & hookers.
Let the PCS Nation Family decide...
Chappaqua or Yonkers?
