This Is Important

If you're going to "share" anything online over this next week, make it this one.

Next weekend leading into Halloween on Monday, over half a billion tons of candy is going to change hands between adults and children, in a fun, family-oriented American tradition we've practiced for over a hundred years.

This year, every day you go online you see a photo of Rainbow Fentanyl that was seized by a variety of government agencies, with a story of how just an amount of it the size of a few grains of sand can kill a human.

What you don't see is the piles of this deadly drug…which in this form looks very similar to a lot of typical Halloween candies…that didn't get seized at the border or wherever it came here from and made it into the country. And of that, some will certainly find it's way into the Halloween candy flow.

I'm not saying any of this to take one moment of joy out of your Halloween celebration.

I'm saying it to try and prevent tragedy from entering into it.

Know what Rainbow Fentanyl looks like.

Check your kids “haul", no matter who or where it came from.

And if there's even a shred of uncertainty, err and confiscate on the side of life saving caution.

With an adult mind, the clue I just gave you and a minute to look at the graphic, you can probably figure out which are which.

A nine-year-old in a Spiderman costume, on a sugar high and reaching into a pillowcase for another hit, will not.

There's no politics in this. ‘Fault’ doesn't matter a bit for this part of it, and can be talked about some other time.

This is keeping our children safe, healthy and alive…and nothing else.
