McCarthy should be out. He hasn't upheld anything he promised when he became Speaker. Bongino was saying that McCarthy neglected to mention to the Republicans about his backdoor deal to keep funding Ukraine, so I'm not surprised they had enough.

Listen to what Vivek says on X about all this.

To paraphrase: "the question should be - what's the plan to...(and then he lists a bunch of problems that need addressing) and who is the person that can wrangle a majority of the House together to get that accomplished."

Rep. Victoria Spartz gets my vote.... but oh.... I don't get a vote.... nobody in Congress is ever going to ask what "we the people" want

I agree. Does Rep. Spartz want to be speaker?

Will anybody worth a flip say "I want that job"?

My opinion is that all of these people knew exactly what McCarthy is, so the time to dump him was before he became Speaker. But the Republicans caved to the pressure of being laughed at and elected him.

He deserves to be trashed, especially after the bs 45 day spending agreement, but the only thing this does is make Republicans look even stupider than they already are, and gives democrats ammunition for next year in claiming Republicans can't govern. Losing the House back next year will make all this moot, since we'll have a Democrat Speaker again.

McCarthy can still run for Speaker, and there is no Republican out there who has the support or the interest in the job. Asinine to do this now, in public, rather than behind closed doors.

100000%

They knew in November that they won & that was the x to hash out the Speaker Spot.

This is all grandstanding imo. They aren't going to agree on replacement so it will go to dems. They should have told Kevvie, that they'd pull the vote to vacate but only if he did x,y z...& used their leverage.

I think McCarthy was arrogant enough to think he could get away with breaking promises just because he was speaker. And he got that job by the skin of his teeth. He grossly underestimated Gaetz and company.

Not a fan of Kevin McCarthy, but when I received a robo-text from Matt Gaetz, I had some words for him, none of which were β€œCongressman.”

6 week summer break.... come back with 2 weeks to get something done before the (SURPRISE!) end of the Fiscal Year.... don't do that..... can't get a 30 day extension so pass a 45 day extension - and take another week off.... This is good work if you can find it
