Glen, wasn't being sarcastic.

I worked retail for many years. Haven't for the last two years due to a car accident & my husband's health. Every job I had except for a few temp positions when I moved to Ohio have been w the public. I have been spit on, threatened, you name it...for politely doing my job. When a customer or taxpayer isn't happy...and they forget that we are customers and taxpayers too!

Here's the methodology on that which I've cultivated over the years...

The customer becomes instantly right, right after they don't listen to me for the third time, and gets handed whatever they ask for no matter how much I know it's probably going to burn their house down.

This is exactly why I never read local news the next day.

The public can be so annoying.

One time I had a lady who insisted we heat up her hollandaise in the microwave.

She was quite irate when I explained hollandaise cannot be heated because it will break.

She told me she knows you can heat hollandaise because she does it all the time.

Ok, but we use actual hollandaise not Knorrs from a package, and it will break.

Just do it……ok……
