I heard the guess - $21.70 for a burger, fries and drink. And I'm guessing with the sure to happen layoffs - you might have to clean the restroom yourself before you really HAVE to use it...
The layoffs started last week. Locations will close (some already have). It will also hurt other restaurants and pubs - why work at a mom & pop business if the chain has to pay a higher rate. Ultimately, CA is hurting the very people they claim to be helping.
My cousin owns two California A&W franchises, one being the original in Lodi. He figures this will cost him $250,000 a year in a payroll increase. Guess he raises his prices, cuts staff or makes a whole lot less as the owner.
Staff cuts are inevitable. Also, in the very near future, employees will be replaced by kiosks and robots. You might encounter one human employee in each restaurant. Fast food will become unaffordable to the masses. Same story as the “Affordable Care Act” which is not affordable at all.
