We got the same speaker but the concessions he had to make to get there will hopefully begin to bring our government back into "regular order" as they call it. The holdouts did a good job for us and the country. The concessions they got are very important and undo a lot of the crazy stuff Pelosi changed. I for one thank them. πΊπ²πΊπ²
Iβm with you. Now weβll see how long the6 hold to the new rules. Any over/under on when Gaetz makes his first motion to remove the Speaker now that he got a rule that it only takes one to bring the motion?
Nah. I guess I'm naive enough to think that McCarthy, realizing his colleagues will hold him to account, will do what's right. I love the debating and arguing. That is what our founders had in mind. I actually feel a little more hopeful for our country today than I did yesterday. Hopefully they don't prove me wrong. π
This is almost like British Parliamentary government.
If McCarthy doesnβt forward legislation that he has promised the Freedom Caucus I can see a no confidence vote per say and heβs out and wonβt make through the year.
Then again this swap RINO could bypass his own party and make uni party deals with the Democrats.
I donβt see that happening yet.
It would take one deal and heβs out.
Then on the other side you have McConnell willing to work with Democrats.
I think if nothing is done in the next 2 years would be great.
Yes, well done, those who had questions or requests received a chance to air their thoughts and demands. It wasn't your typical "business as usual slide one croney out and a new one in" sort of affair. I think we need a great deal more of this each and every day. My only wish is that one of the stipulations for their votes was that each congressmanwas required to personally write and then read aloud each and every word of each piece of legislation put up for a vote and then have it shown on the nightly news for average citizens to see just what pork and garbage gets slipped into these bills.
Forcing all of these clowns to vote for speaker in person is preferable to the proxy BS Pelosi encouraged. Let's get on with the real investigations and expose the lying and what the hell, at least some of the grifting!

I agree. I think the minute he tries to cross the aisle they'd bounce him!
