Ok, at first read through I wondered what the hell is diminishing date rape? Like 'diminishing' was an adjective describing the date rape he perpetrated on somebody.
I'm not an expert on this stuff but the writer should have said "he was dismissive of".... or "he downplayed the concept of"...
