Until recent human history there were just 4 times of the day - sunrise, high noon, sunset and midnight. That's really all that was needed. Now we divide our days into nanoseconds "for efficiency and precision". So the trains can run on time? Once you retire from the world of commerce you set your clock by the sun and moon (or the closing time of your favorite store) but everything else is relative to how you feel. We have made a planet that could not exist that way and that may be part of the problem.
