Texas would do fine because we are proud and self sufficient fair minded and smart. We do for ourselves and work together when needed. Worst thing would be over population as everyone would want to live here. We would have to close all borders.

I think they would be concerned with immigration from their northern border. Trade agreements maybe a concern. I'm sure the federal government would try to forbid other states from trading or exporting to Texas.
If that idea should come to fruition, Texas wouldn't be alone. Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida would be joining them - and probably more. I don't think Texas could do it alone. Having the majority of the Gulf Coast join them would be doable.
Biggest concern would become their Northern border with many folks wanting to get in and their Western border with other folks hoping the lights are still on in California .
If we just had Texans here, no problem. But because there has been such an influx of “foreign” folks, we may need a week to train them.

I'm a native Texan and would be OK with it. My greatest fear is that DC would only allow it as long as we continued to pay income taxes to DC.
I think they will be fine. I will fill out my immigration papers the first day, and hopefully they will let me in.
