Yonkers Public School #18, where your pal Glen went to kindergarten, and I 100% know for certain that my Mom's got a faded old photo in an album of me coming down those stairs after the first day with a giant "GLEN" name tag pinned to me and holding hands with a kid with a giant "VITO" name tag pinned to him. True Story. 😁
Also, it's now called the Ella Fitzgerald Academy, which circles me back to earlier. My grandma went to grade school with Ella Fitzgerald, and says she was a mean, nasty little kid. 😆
Last one's a two-parter.
The green building on the right used to be the greatest Italian bakery & pastry shop in the history of ever, Cafe Puglia, and no matter what it is now, it's NOT AS GOOD. 😑
And on the property where the big building is on the left, there used to be an American Legion hall, where one night in the early 60's, my dad was there rehearsing with the legion-sponsored New York Skyliners drum & bugle corps...and my mom was evidently out with her friends and prowling for guys...and they met, and a few years later I happened. 😁
Long day. 😏
Where we goin' next week? 😃
I'm glad these Send Me Somewheres are so amazing 🥰
Love the "Send Me Somewhere" pictures and stories behind the pictures.
