I love this tour. The pictures and description by Glen is wonderful. I wish we were on a double decker bus with him each weekend! I am in Delaware and have been to NY briefly a few times .
My dad was a lead soprano with the Skyliners from maybe '59-'62, then defected back across the Hudson to the Hawthorne Caballeros for a few years. Dad was a rockstar player. He was actually inducted into the national "Buglers Hall of Fame" about 15 years ago. 😄
I played with the Caballeros in the mid-80's too. And it is still around, just more of a "youth" activity now.
Back in the 60s we had many in the Capital Region, seemed like every Catholic parish sponsored a group. I was a flag bearer/rifle twirler with a group in Troy NY. They're all history now.
I'm glad these Send Me Somewheres are so amazing 🥰

Love the "Send Me Somewhere" pictures and stories behind the pictures.
This is one of my favorites!!
How are your feet?
Excellent!
Those new bright orange shoes were perfect. And I bet they go over big at WP Pride today! 😄
Good!
I love our Saturday adventures!
Someone should bring back drum & bugle corps! The NY Skyliners were one of the best!

This recording is from 1963 at Carnegie Hall. If I have the years right, which I think I do, Dad's playing some of the solos on this.
If I don't have the years right then he was still playing with the Skyliners that night, which isn't on this video.
But either way he still played at Carnegie Hall. 😉
