I live on the shore in CT on the Long Island Sound. New York used to be one of my most favorite places to go, alone, on a whim, as it's a short train ride. I've been to SO many shows there, rock concerts, small clubs, shopping, hanging in Hell's Kitchen, Chelsea pier, anyfreakingwhere I wanted! My SO, along with both of my children, have forbidden me to go alone to the city anymore.

My SO sometimes mourns his move away from the city, especially when he watches a movie from the past set in NYC (last Saturday we watche Marty, set in Mid Century NYC and he admitted missing that city then) but when he watches the latest news coming from the city he realizes that he can't go back because there is nothing to go back to.

Add in the exhorbitant cost of living and you know why my SO (a born and bred NYC guy) and I left Brooklyn 2 years ago this month and never looked back. In less than a year his condo went from a value of $375,000 to $225,000 because of the dem hell hole NYC is. Add in the cockroaches and filth and taxes it just isn't worth living there any longer.

As all the good, hardworking people escape out of this sinking shithole there will only be left the takers and the very elite who will hide away in their enclaves until taxes make it worth their while to move on. Then who pays for this mess... the rest of the state. Better that a small thermonuclear device goes off before the city bleeds the rest of the state dry. Demographically the city, as are all blue urban centers, is in a death spiral to insolvency because of demographics.

Very sad...

And people are too stupid to realize that this is because of teflon dem leadership and greed.

The dem unions are paid well and so are the social service workers, it is not just the leadershiip, it is the parasitic nature of dem campaign contributions (one hand washes the other) that keep this city from flourishing. Until you change the demographics, nothing will alter this city's demise - it is a self-fulfilling goal and they are too stupid to realize that as are ALL SOCIALISTS.

Doesn't "C" make "his bones" with Sonny over a shooting over a parking spot in "A Bronx Tale"?
