Quoting Newt Gingrich from last night - "(McCarthy) He was the singularly most active, best fundraiser". That says it all as to where the mindset of most of the republicans is when it comes to voting for McCarthy.
The only face-saving option at this point, in my opinion, is for the R's to nominate someone completely different than McCarthy or Jordan. Someone they've collectively agreed to all vote for. To vote for McCarthy now would look like the dissenters were simply worn down and gave in, or more likely, that they've negotiated something in return for changing their minds. Either way, it's not a good look. To vote for Jordan now, after 200+ of them said 'Nah' multiple times already would be ridiculous.
